I'm trying to figure out what is the smallest (shortest) production
vehicle imported to the US in the early 90's. I need something super
small to fit in my garage--- specifically I want to turn a 2 car
garage into a 3 car garage :) Surprisingly there are no sites out
there to do ad-hoc analysis for this.

So far I have the following-

Suzuki Samurai: 135" in length
Ford Festiva: 140.5" in length
Ford Aspire: 152" in length
Honda CRX: 145" in length
Suzuki swift/ Geo metro: 145" in length
Mazda miata: 155" in length

Can anyone think of another possible short production vehcile? I'd say
mini cooper, but that is new and REALLY expensive.

what kind of height do you have in your garage? you could use a lift type
thing, they make and sell them cheap now....

the Ford came first and was originally for Japan only)

I don't think any of these made it to the U.S., as the OP required.

I was about to say the same thing, but the Daihatsu Charade was
vailable in the US. 1988 to 1992, from what I've found.

The smallest sportscar sold in the US was
the King Midget. Made in Athens Ohio and had a 10 HP Wisconsin Engine, Was
Automatic and had chain drive. Street legal and you could use them as a Golf
cart. You still see some around today.
It is now a collector Item I guess. Had one
and never measured up to a Messerchmitt.
that was a 3 wheeler with a Sach's 200 CC. Engine two stroke and 4 forward 4
reverse manual tranny. Had one of those too. Too mab did not keep either.

If you are willing to go for something a bit older there is always the
BMW Isetta, the Honda 600, and the Subaru 360, and of course the
original Mini.

Daimler/Chrysler makes something called the 'Smart Car'. I'm not sure if
they're imported into the US yet. Or, if they are, they'll build a
larger model for this market. With fins. ;-)
